This Level 3 Forest School Leader training course will give participants the skills, knowledge and confidence to set up and run Forest School sessions in their school, setting or independently.  The Level 3 qualification gained is equivalent to an A-Level, is verified by Liminalis Ltd. and accredited by ITC First.

Charlotte is an experienced headteacher, a practising Forest School Leader and a Forest School Association (FSA) Endorsed Trainer with a background in ecology and extensive experience of training Forest School Leaders. In 2024 Charlotte is going to be co-training with Sarah Allington at Sarah’s woodland near Saffron Walden.  Sarah is an experienced Level 3 Forest School practitioner working with children and young people from toddlers to teenagers including those with a range of additional needs. Sarah holds the FSA’s recognised provider status for her Forest School sessions which is a benchmark for quality Forest School provision. She is a founding member of a small charity which promotes access to quality Forest School for children and families. 

The course takes approximately 12 months to complete and will be delivered almost entirely face-to-face in the woods. It is suitable for people aged 21 or over (on course completion) who will be able to access a group to lead an introductory programme of Forest School with and who hold a relevant Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience.  For more information about the course download the ‘general training information’.

Course dates: Initial training: 19th – 21st and 25th – 27th March 2024.  Practical Skills Assessment days: 11th-13th June 2024.  An additional tutorial day will be arranged with the group.  First aid training dates: TBC. 

Cost: The £945 course fees include ongoing tutor support throughout the course, registration and Level 3 Certification with the awarding body (ITC First), 1 year’s FREE membership of the FSA and a FREE copy of the FSA Book ‘Growing a Forest School – from the roots up!’ A two-day Outdoor/Forest School First Aid course is also a course requirement and can be arranged by the course tutor at an additional cost of approximately £120.
